Celebrating a “Birthday” & Officially Launching My Site

3rd Birthday
Any milestone is an occasion for cake.

This month marks the third anniversary of my role as a freelance editor. (I’ve been coaching and editing for 13 years.) So this seemed like a good time to launch my new site.

For the past three years, I’ve been The Eclectic Scribe. When I chose the name, I intended to divide my business between editing and freelance writing (for magazines and websites). But I decided editing is my passion and jettisoned the freelance writing end of the gig. So the word “scribe” no longer seemed quite right.

Years ago, my younger daughter named this stuffed panda after me and explained that Stephanie the Panda is an editor. She’s also a mommy. (You can’t see it in the photo, but she’s holding a baby panda.) Soon P. announced that the panda was my “mascot.” Hence my rebranding.

I’m thankful to my friend Janell, who’s multi-talented, creative, and thoroughly professional, for suggesting the name and for being my graphic designer. Many thanks to my infinitely patient family, for putting up my erratic work schedule. And a huge shout-out to my fantastic clients. Thank you for trusting me with your book babies. That means everything to me.
